Imagine a Palm Canyon Drive
that invites Borrego residents and
visitors alike to
slow down and smell the honey mesquite. Think of
parking and walking down a beckoning path, with benches
and shade trees comfortably spaced along it, leading all
the way down to Christmas Circle. Picture crossing
from one side of the street to the other at well-marked,
attractive cross-walks, with room to pause on a
flowering median strip. Enhancing our walkways will give
our small town a more leisurely and friendly atmosphere,
an increased sense of welcome for residents and visitors
alike.
The Borrego Village
Association has planned and begun to make some of those
ambitious enhancements through its Palm Canyon
Vitalization Plan. A detailed plan has been developed
and, and thanks to an initial fund raising effort, in
which many interested individuals contributed in excess
0f $30,000, a series of pocket parks along the south
side of Palm Canyon drive have now been landscaped with
trees and shrubs.
